Citi Limits Parkour Curriculum

At Citi Limits Parkour we take a slightly different approach to our curriculum than most programs. First, instead of a long drawn-out list of every move, we keep it simple and show the most important skills needed to develop as an athlete. Second, we split our coaching focus into three main categories; Mental (60%) teaching the students how to think and overcome fear, Technical (15%-20%) teaching the individual skills of parkour and Physical (10%-15%) teaching the proper exercises needed to perform all skills. Lastly, we don't require a student to master every skill, instead, they only need to achieve 80% or higher to level up, which allows for individual styles to be formed.  

Level 1: Intro To Parkour

Most people's first thought of parkour is a bunch of crazy people jumping from buildings and doing flips. Although a select few athletes do focus on more daring tricks and stunts, parkour is designed for what you want out of it, whether that be for better health, coordination, fun, etc. Our intro to parkour class is specially designed to prepare your body, mind, and senses for your journey through our Parkour program. We will help you to safely and effectively learn how to jump, vault, roll, land and fall. Most importantly our level of development is custom designed for you to learn at your own pace, so no rush in learning proper technique and safety. Most importantly, train hard and train safe!

Level 2: Beginner

After completion of level 1 your confidence and ability to overcome obstacles will have boosted noticeably. The level 2 training course is designed to build muscle memory through repetition and increase both strength and endurance. Classes will have a balanced split between technique and muscle conditioning, allowing for both muscle memory and strength to increase. For the best results in advancing through level 2, we recommend spending 1 day/ week practicing on your own time after class or going to a community parkour jam. Train hard and train safe!

Level 3: Intermediate

By level 3 you now have a good understanding of both parkour and what your body is capable of doing. Now the main focus is going to make a shift towards flow, creativity and control. Combo vaults and double vaults will be introduced as well as stringing movements together creating what we call "Flow".  As you progress through level 3 it is important to create your own style and parkour identity. In this level you will decide if you want to focus more on speed and efficiency doing traditional parkour, or maybe going more for creativity and flow, learning flips and transitioning to freerunning. Proper progression will require training your skills on your own free time. We highly recommend trying parkour outdoors or at a gym, at least 2 days a week, with a few friends or joining one of the many local parkour jams. As always train hard and train safe!

Level 4: Advanced

Progression, what a great feeling. For our advanced students, we like to step things up a notch. The number of skills to be taught are far less than before as you will now have just about mastered the fundamentals of parkour. Level 4 will have a heavy focus on conditioning, repetition, flow, and refining your skills. The goal now is to take all skills to another level increasing distance and height, decreasing run up and landing size. Although we will continue teaching both parkour and freerunning, advanced students will continue to focus on either speed and efficiency or creativity and flow. Progression through level 4 does require active practice in your own spare time. We recommend 2-3 days a week of solo or group practice. Train hard and train safe!

Level 5: Pro Athlete

The final level of Citi Limits Parkour has one focus. Turn parkour into a career. At the level of mastery you now will know all that we can teach in terms of doing parkour as a hobby or sport. You can now choose the route of your choice and become a certified Parkour instructor, join the CLPK PRO TEAM and travel the world competing in competitions, movie stunts, entertainment or many more avenues to be discovered.
